About Ben

Since qualifying as an Osteopath Ben has worked at various clinics in London, Lincolnshire and Oxfordshire. These include a multidisciplinary clinic specialising in pregnancy and pre-conceptual care, a sports injury clinic and general Osteopathic clinics for a variety of adult and paediatric patients.

Ben has had particular success with babies and children whose birth has been traumatic in some way; long-term reoccurring problems; patients who have had multiple falls, car accidents, operations or illnesses; and sensitive people needing extremely un-intrusive treatment.

He has completed a two year diploma in paediatric osteopathy at the Osteopathic Centre for Children and now works in the clinic as a volunteer.

Ben works holistically, incorporating all the systems of the body, to facilitate the release of long standing tensions and to support the healing process.

As a musician he is sensitive to the problems that performers have whether that be the physical demands of playing an instrument, voice production or the accumulative emotional stress from performance nerves.

He is committed to integrity and honesty and working with his patients to find the best course of action for them. Patients are reassessed carefully at every visit and progress is discussed.

Ben believes that Osteopathy sessions should be geared where possible towards giving skills to take home that will enable the patient to have more control of their own health.

Ben Colyer is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and is a member of the Sutherland Cranial College and the British Osteopathic Association. He is fully insured and has completed a four year full time degree course at the British School of Osteopathy qualifying in 2003. He has completed a two year diploma in paediatric osteopathy at the Osteopathic Centre for Children.

He is DBS checked and is registered with most insurance companies including BUPA.

He has undertaken postgraduate studies in Cranial and Paediatric Osteopathy and continues to study and develop his skills as an osteopath. He is currently undertaking a series of Biodynamic Cranial Osteopathy courses with James Jealous in Oregon, USA as well as the Sutherland Cranial College programme of courses. He also works at the Osteopathic Centre for Children as a volunteer.

Ben currently teaches anatomy and physiology to Alexander Technique teacher trainees at the Alexander Re-education Centre in Hurley.

He has recently trained as an Alexander Technique teacher, graduating in March 2014, and teaches one-to-one Alexander Technique lessons.
